The Aquarius New Moon will fall on January 22 at 7.53 am (AEDT), positioned at 1 degrees and 32 minutes of Aquarius.
The Aquarius New Moon ushers in the Chinese New Year annually, however babies need to be born from February 4 onwards to be considered under the new animal. This year is the Year of the Water or Black Rabbit. Water brings the ability to make and accept change. The Rabbit (or Cat in some versions), represents the fourth of 12 animal cycles in China, which have been likened to the 12 signs of the Zodiac, so Cancer energy. Like Cancer the rabbit is associated with the Moon. The Rabbit has a gentle nature and likes to stay close to home. Experts suggest peace, prosperity and vigor, paying attention to details and biding your time, before moving only when the time is right!
The Sabian symbol for 2 degrees of Aquarius is “An unexpected thunderstorm”, natures challenge the need to develop the inner security which will enable us to meet unexpected crises. The New Moon is separating from Pluto in Capricorn by 3 degrees and applying to the asteroids Sekhmet and Prosperina by less than 3 degrees. This will be one very powerful and transformative New Moon to kick off 2023! Sekhmet has a similar influence to Pluto from the Egyptian cosmology and Prosperina is the Roman version of Pluto or Hades’ bride, Persephone! It will definitely be a time to dig deep into your unconscious and heal past traumas.
The asteroid Hekate, Goddess of transformation and the Crossroads will be making a close awkward quincunx aspect to Pluto, suggesting that an adjustment will need to be made to what you have been believing about yourself at the most deepest level, in order to become the true version of who you are! There are many other connections between the intuitive asteroids confirming that this is a key time for healing on both a personal and a collective basis.
Saturn the ruler of the Lunation will also be in Aquarius the sign he is strongest in, showing the need to make your personal changes good for the world at large. Jupiter will make a wide sextile to the lunation from Aries bringing courage to make the deep changes necessary. Mars will be acting as the focal point of a Yod formation from two tight quincunxes to Mercury and the South Node, reinforcing the need to act to adjust what is required.
