The Full Moon in December will be another Super Moon, this time in Gemini, so make sure you get a good look at her on the evening of either December 4 or 5! Traditionally the December Full Moon has been known as the “Cold” Moon as it heralds in the Winter Solstice, the astrological start of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere! In Australia the the Sun and Moon will be exactly opposite on December 5 at 10.14 am, in daylight, and positioned at 13 degrees Gemini 03’, the 14th degree of the sign. This has the Sabian symbol “Bridging physical space and social distinctions, two men communicate telepathically”. The capacity to transcend the limitations of bodily existence or using a technique of transcendence!

The Sun in the 14th degree of Sagittarius, has the symbol of “The Great Pyramid and the Sphinx”. This suggests the enduring power of occult knowledge and of its quasi-divine Custodians, “Seed-Men” of a previous cycle of existence, so the power of spiritual ancestry.

The Moon has a fascinating cycle with the Earth in many ways; I have already touched on “Super Moons” where she is at her closest distance from us and appears much brighter in the sky! This is caused by the elliptical nature of her orbit. Another feature is that during the Autumn and Winter months here, she moves within just one Zodiac sign every month so from November to March she will be around 13 degrees of each sign!

On December 13 however, she will also be making an exact partile Grand Square with her Nodal Axis. Carl Payne Tobey coined the term “Moon Wobble” for hard aspects of 0, 90 and 180 degrees from the Lunar Nodes to the Sun in the 1930s, and researched their coincidence with difficult weather and world events. He used orbs of upto 6 degrees on either side of the partile event. I could not find other recorded examples involving squares to a Full Moon especially within the same partile degree! The connection between the Nodes and New Moons to result in eclipses, being of course well understood. In Evolutionary Astrology the Nodes of the Moon carry our soul’s intention over time, the Virgo South Node representing the emotional patterns that were not healed in our past lives and the Pisces North Node showing us the way forward towards our life purpose. Planetary bodies that square the Nodal Axis represent actions that were missed in the past and opportunities that consequently exist in the present.

A square from the Sun on the Northern Bending suggests the need to developing self-belief in order to facilitate the positive development of ego and positive self-expression out into the world. Whereas, the square from the Moon at the Southern Bendings relates to the South Node and past patterns that need to be resolved, in relation to past family issues that could be holding you back.

Several minor bodies are in evidence close to the luminaries. Luna will be applying to Anubis, Psyche and Ariadne, whereas Sol will be separating from Mnemosyne and applying to Merlin.

Anubis was the Egyptian Neter associated with the preparation of the dead for their journey to the afterlife, wheras. Psyche was the lover of Eros who couldn’t resist looking to see his face against his wishes, and who had to undergo difficult tasks to satisfy his jealous mother in Venus. Ariadne was the Mistress of the Labyrinth in Crete, who aided Theseus in his quest to kill her brother the Minotaur, but was abandoned pregnant on the island of Naxos in return. Both women who suffered for their love but in the end were rewarded for their efforts.

We may be offered choices with this Full Moon in Gemini, but the outcomes will never be straightforward and will probably be focusing more on what is the right outcome for our everlasting soul, than our desire nature.

In opposition the Sun in Sagittarius will be separating from a close union with Mnemosyne the Goddess of Memory and the Written Word. He will also soon be catching up with Merlin, the famed Magician of Arthurs Court in Ancient Briton. Mnemosyne was the mother of the Nine Muses fathered by Zeus on nine consecutive nights to act as emissaries to inspire the creatives of the world, enabling them to write the poems and plays, make the music and songs and paint the creations, that would enable the sacred myths and stories of the Gods to be remembered and maintained over time. Making sure that these messages were not forgotten through the magic of their creations. So there will be some magical stories from the past that you are required to pay attention to at this Full Moon!
