The Aquarius New Moon will be on January 29 at 11.35 pm (AEDT), positioned at 9 degrees Aquarius 51’.Mercury joined the luminaries in Aquarius on the previous day, conjoining Pluto just a few hours before the lunation.
The Aquarius New Moon ushers in the Chinese New Year annually, however babies need to be born from February 10 onwards to be considered under the new animal. This year is the Year of the Wood Snake. Wood brings the possibility of metamorphosis, wise decisions, and intuitive insights. The Snake year is characterized by introspection, mystery, and intelligence.
The Snake represents the sixth of 12 animal cycles in China, which have been likened to the 12 signs of the Zodiac, so like Virgo energy. The Snake indicates a time to focus on making plans, solving problems, and acting strategically in all areas of life. It also enables spiritual and personal growth, since it encourages self-discovery.
The Wood element is also known to be the mother of the Fire element. So, it assists with creativity, invention, and introducing new things! However, energy can become somewhat scattered in nature as Wood is focused on growth and needs to be harnessed to be truly effective.
The Sabian symbol for 10 degrees of Aquarius is “A man who had for a time become the embodiment of a popular ideal, is made to realize that as a person he is not this ideal”, through self-evaluation or the need to deal with human beings as persons rather than screens upon which one projects one’s dream and ideal.
The first decan of Aquarius ruled by Venus corresponds with the five of Swords from the Tarot, it represents defeat, hollow victories and learning from situations.
The Sun and Moon will be applying to a tight Air trine aspect with Jupiter in Gemini. They will be applying to a partile square with asteroid Hekate in Scorpio, just 2’ from being exact. Hekate is the Goddess of Transformation and choosing one’s correct path at a crossroads. There are important decisions to be made maybe about where to go now, what to believe about past convictions.
Hekate will be making an awkward quincunx aspect to Jupiter, there will be adjustments that will need to be made. Jupiter will also be making a quincunx to asteroids Medea and Artemis in Capricorn, which forms a Yod or Finger of God to Hekate through a tight sectile. Medea worked with magic like Hekate and Artemis is the Goddess of the Hunt and Beasts of the Forest, so there are natural forces her which need to be resolved though the reflections associated with Retrograde Jupiter.
Jupiter will also form the focal point of a T-Square to Astarte in Virgo and Sekhmet in Pisces. Both ancient and powerful Goddesses from Mesopotamia and Egypt respectively. There will be powerful forces at work throughout this New Moon.
With the Sun and Moon in the sign of Aquarius, the general energy focus will be:
• Being a humanitarian, concerned about the environment, resources and animals
• Putting the needs of the community above your own
• Challenging conventional thinking, seeking fairness and equality
• Becoming involved in group activities with your tribe of likeminded people
• Seeking freedom and the ability to detach from your emotional patterning
• Being true to your individuality
• Coming up with original and unique inspirational ideas
• Increasing your knowledge in what makes people behave the way they do
The area most aligned with the position of the New Moon can be best gleaned from your natal horoscope chart, however if you only know your Sun Sign, then affirmations around the areas indicated below are likely to be the most powerful, but some adjustment may be required to the life areas below:
